Type Class Project — Concept

Tanglemind Type is a display typeface developed for a type design class project, which began by selecting a favorite song as the creative foundation. The chosen track, “Antenna” from the album AAA by Sunset Rollercoaster and Hyukoh, evokes a unique balance of calm and mental clarity. This emotional and cognitive response became the inspiration for the letterforms.

The design translates the song’s dual effect—relaxation and mental stimulation—into tangled, twisting lines that shape each character. These interwoven strokes reflect the layered, dynamic nature of creative thought, where ideas continuously overlap, evolve, and emerge. Tanglemind Type embraces complexity over clarity, illustrating the beauty of a mind at work.
